Techcouver meets Google Maps

As many of our Vancouver-based readers know, Techvibes launched a Web 2.0 map of Vancouver last summer and aptly named it Techcouver.com. The ‘Techcouver’ moniker picked up steam and I continue to hear people refer to our vibrant tech community as Techcouver, which makes us proud.

The inaugural Techcouver map proved impossible to update and hardly ‘Web 2.0’ worthy itself, so we updated the static image version to a Flash version. The Flash site was successful for awhile but also had its drawbacks as it grew crowded and difficult to navigate.

In an effort to provide coverage in more cities across Canada, the Techcouver title has been dropped and we have created a new map using Google Maps – https://borndigital.com/map.  In the process, we’ve moved away from the slightly-overused Web 2.0 handle in an effort to cover more technologies as well.

Our goal is to provide Techvibes visitors with the perfect tool for locating technology service providers across Canada and eventually the US. If you’d like your company added to the map, fill out the request form and we’ll get you on there. If you have any feedback on the process, please report back and we’ll continue to make improvements.

Thanks to Christine Rondeau and Joseph Lo at Bluelime Media for all their hard work getting this new version online and thanks to Darren Barefoot and Cameron Cavers for their part in getting the original Techcouver map off the ground.
