Time to Start Banking from Your Watch

Banking from your wrist will soon be a thing.

Canadian bank Tangerine announced today that its mobile banking app will be one of the first apps available on Apple Watch. The Toronto-based financial institution’s app will provide users with access to their personal banking information from their wrist, including account balances, recent transactions, and transaction details.

“We’re excited to be one of the first apps available on Apple Watch as we continue to deliver simple and innovative solutions that allow our clients to bank on their own terms,” said Peter Aceto, CEO of Tangerine. “This continuous innovation is what reinforces Tangerine’s position as a forward thinking bank and sets us apart when it comes delivering the future of banking to Canadians.”

The free app will utilize the Apple Watch’s “Glance” feature, in this case to see the most recent transaction in their account at any time. Clients will also have the ability to set account and transaction thresholds and receive notifications all on their wrist.

Preorders for the Apple Watch start on April 10. The app will launch when the watch does on the 24th.
