Trace Raises $2.5 Million Seed Round to Create ‘Entirely New Product Category’

TRACE Live Network has raised $2.5 million.

The oversubscribed seed round was led by the principles of Salman Partners, with participation coming from various private sources within the Business Instincts Group Network.

The Canadian-born company developed the TRACEr1, a visually intelligent camera capable of following its owner “almost anywhere” and live-streaming captured footage to the web.

The TRACEr1 has been designed to self-operate a series of motorized vehicles, which follow users into action and capture video which can be live-streamed. TRACE calls it an “entirely new product category.”

Cameron Chell is behind TRACE. The serial entrepreneur cofounded both Slyce and UrtheCast.

TRACE is slated to launch officially in January at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
