Canadian Startup Tubetime Creates ‘Complete Second Screen Television Experience’

Montreal-based Tubetime is dedicated to improving the television experience.

The Canadian company has launched an all-in-one TV app, which it says delivers a “complete second screen experience.”

“Tubetime’s interactive program guide allows viewers to enrich their TV experience while watching their favourite shows on TV,” the company says.

According to Tubetime, the guide makes show discovery intuitive through the search tool, category filters or by seeing what shows are popular with other Tubetime users. By customizing their TV guide with favourites and reminders, users won’t miss their must-see shows.

Following and participating in the Twitter conversation around what’s on TV has never been easier as hashtags for each program are integrated in the app, Tubetime says. And interactivity on Tubetime goes beyond social media as users can participate and discover, in real-time, unique content, contests, offers and games about the shows they like.

“As a growing percentage of TV watching now also includes second screen experiences on mobile devices such as interactions with Twitter and Facebook and directly with the shows, we saw a need to create an easy-to-use, all-in-one, fully connected gateway,” explains Marc Belanger, CEO of Tubetime. “Tubetime delivers a TV experience which is highly social and opens up new interactivity possibilities with TV shows.”

The Tubetime app is free on Apple’s App Store and the company says it will “soon” be available for Android.
