Twitter buys social media dashboard app TweetDeck for $40 million

Twitter has officially bought TweetDeck for $40 million, if CNN’s early morning report holds true.

The $40-million cash-and-stocks deal would see Twitter own TweetDeck entirely just a month after the Wall Street Journal suggested the two companies may be in talks over a deal.

It was rumoured many months before that, however, that UberMedia held interest in TweetDeck. UberMedia already owns multiple Twitter applications and has long been rivalling with Twitter—so much so that it’s been said the company plans to launch its own, similar microblogging service.

Regardless, Twitter appears to have won this round.
