Uber Asks Toronto to Petition City Council for uberX

As an innovative new industry, ridesharing is not covered by Toronto’s existing taxi regulations.

But taxi companies are pressuring Toronto City Hall candidates to stifle competition, maintain the status quo and protect their monopoly on Toronto’s streets.

Uber wants the candidates for Mayor and City Council to hear that Torontonians support innovation, competition and consumer choice in Toronto.

“Without your voice, taxi incumbents may succeed in shutting uberX and ridesharing out of Toronto” is the rallying call for a new petition organized by Team Uber Toronto.

“By showing your support for ridesharing, you are speaking up in favour of lower costs for consumers, thousands of new jobs for drivers and reduced congestion and emissions in Toronto”.
