Ubisoft purchases Montreal’s Quazal Technologies

The Montreal Gazette is reporting that Ubisoft has purchased Montreal-based Quazal Technologies. Quazal creates software for online multiplayer aspects of video games.

Paris-based Ubisoft, which has its largest studio in Montreal’s Mile End, has used Quazal in many of its games, including Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, which was named Best Online Game at the most recent E3 conference.

In a statement, the company said Quazal will continue to expand its technology and services, which will remain available for licence to the general gaming industry.
