Vancouver Bloggers to Hike in for WordPress Camp

Wordpress LogoWordPress has become one of the most popular blog systems on the Web, pushing the pixels of many local blogs, including Techvibes’. When the Tazzu community announced their intention to hold a WordPress Camp, it didn’t take long for a full slate of presenters to come forward. WordPress Camp takes place next Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at the Network Hub (422 Richards St). Scheduled presenters include Rebecca “Miss604” Bollwitt, dot-com mogul John Chow, Linux journalist Bruce Byfield, and myself, among others. Since many WordPress users are non-technical, the talks should be fairly low-difficulty and accessible.

In my talk, entitled “Good Typography in WordPress”, I’ll talk about some good basic strategies for displaying text and how to apply them to the web with basic CSS. Typographic choices, while subtle, can heavily affect the meaning conveyed by text and its readability. I’m looking forward to delving into this geeky aspect of an already geeky topic.
