Vancouver’s Canpages revamps its voice-powered, augmented-reality mobile app

Canpages, owned by Vancouver’s Yellow Media, has given its iPhone app a major facelift.

The free voice-powered local search app has a completely redone interface and social media integration. The app is able to leverage augmented reality by simultaneously using the iPhone’s compass, GPS, and video camera, and is one of few that utilizes voice recognition.

“Canpages’ voice-powered local search app is all about helping people find what they need, when they need it, quickly and easily,” said Colin Osing, Canpages’ Director of Online Media. “It’s as simple as launching the app on your smart phone and talking to it. Users can text or email the search results to a friend as well as Tweet it or post them to Facebook, all in one click.”

The app is also available on BlackBerry and Android devices.
