VEF presents how $4,000 can become a multi-million dollar company

Kabir Shahani had $4,000 and an idea two years ago.

Now, today, Shahani’s idea has turned into a multimillion dollar startup. That $4,000 was the initial funding behind Seattle-based Appature Inc., a now-profitable company working in the field of healthcare marketing.

And at an upcoming event hosted by the Vancouver Enterprise Forum, Shahani will be telling his story. February 4th is the date of “Startup to Standout,” when you can hear how Shahani made his entrepreneurial dreams come true. He now counts companies like Johnson & Johnson and Microsoft among his clients, who use his company to measure and manage their marketing. In 2009, Appature completed their first round of outside funding — $3.5 million from Madrona Ventures and Ignition Partners — to help accelerate Appature’s growth.

Entrepreneurs of all experience levels, plus investors of the angel and VC variety and service providers from fields like accounting, finance and legal will be attending this event, and networking is absolutely on tap both before and after the presentation. And for the gourmet in you, appetizers will be served prior to Shahani’s presentation.

Startup to Standout with Kabir Shahani takes place February 4th at 6 p.m. at Republic. To register, click here.
