Vidéotron flips the switch on its wireless network

Videotron LogoAs reported earlier this week, Quebec-based Vidéotron launched its wireless network Thursday morning.

Although Vidéotron’s new wireless offering is being branded under the slogan “The end of time is here” eluding to its voice plans, it looks as though the integrated communications company is differentiating its wireless offering on price. Although many are saying that this strategy will create a price war, Robert Dépatie, president and chief executive officer of Vidéotron, said that the other wireless providers started the price wars long-ago:

“We feel our prices are extremely competitive. The price war was started a long time ago.”

As of now, Vidéotron does not have Apple’s iPhone in its device line-up, but it is offering RIM’s Blackberry Bold and Pearl and a variety of smartphones that run on Google’s Android operating system.

A full breakdown of the plans and devices that Vidéotron is offering can be found on its wireless homepage.
