Waterloo Wants to Mimic Silicon Valley by Working with Toronto Instead of Competing with It

Waterloo is looking to redefine itself in the wake of BlackBerry. Although the smartphone maker remains alive and may even return to profitability next year, its workforce is dimished and the company has laid off several thousand Waterloo-area employees in recent years.

The region wants to do so by mimicking Silicon Valley and how that area stretches from San Francisco to San Jose. Waterloo, then, wants to stretch to Toronto, and work with the city instead of competing with it for talent and tech, suggests a Canadian Press article by David Friend.
