The Fact There is No Women in Canada’s Venture Capital Industry Suggests a Cultural Dysfunction

Only 11% of all venture capitalists in North America are women and only 4% of all senior VC partners are women, according to the NVCA.

A report from America’s trade association for the venture capital industry inspired Jeff Bussgang, General Partner of Flybridge Capital Partners, to pen a blog post about the “cultural dysfunction” in the industry, noting that only 3% of all tech firms are started by women and male founders are 60% liklier to secure financing from investors. “There is no good logical reason for the numbers to be as bad as they are,” writes Bussgang.
