Your Smartphone is 10 Times Germier Than Your Toilet, but BlackBerry May Change That

A toilet seat might have 50 germs per square inch. Ew!

A smartphone might have 25,000 or more. 

With cellphones on average 10 times germier than toilets, it’s easy to see why BlackBerry is considering developing a bacteria-free device.

The potential device, which would target healthcare workers, was hinted at by BlackBerry CEO john Chen at an event held by Mackenzie Health in Ontario.

The idea comes at a time when BlackBerry is struggling. The company says it is looking to buy back up to 12 million shares over the next year. Based on current prices, that’s an expense of about $130 million for the company.
