Customers can load the 7-Eleven Wallet with funds using debit, credit, gift cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and even cash.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 7-Eleven Wallet allows customers who prefer cash to also use touchless mobile payment options. While other payment methods are loaded using the app, cash can be loaded in-store.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;7-Eleven Wallet meets the needs of customers looking for convenient, contactless ways to shop and pay during this unprecedented global pandemic,&#8221; said 7-Eleven president and CEO, Joe DePinto. &#8220;Cash customers want to participate in the growing digital payment ecosystem. 7-Eleven Wallet gives them access to touchless payment along with deep value loyalty offers.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wallet members can also earn points and redeem rewards for free merchandise. The new offering plays deeply into the chain&#8217;s 7Rewards program, which is 7-Eleven&#8217;s widely-promoted loyalty program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The use of mobile wallets and digital payments has grown tremendously in recent years, but even more so since the pandemic has increased the need for contactless payments. In a recent survey, 57% of customers said that a store\u2019s payment options would affect their willingness to shop there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s expected that the use of mobile wallets, an industry that is worth almost $1.47 trillion, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/thepaypers.com\/mobile-payments\/mobile-wallet-payments-to-surge-by-50-percent-in-2020--1242730#:~:text=The%20Statista%20data%20also%20revealed,%25%20year%2Don%2Dyear.&amp;text=Consequently%2C%20in%20the%20next%20four,hit%20over%201.7%20billion%20worldwide.\" target=\"_blank\">will have surged by 50% by the end of 2020<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7-Eleven has launched a number of digital initiatives this year that allow for contactless payments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier in 2020, <a href=\"https:\/\/brainstation.io\/2020\/06\/24\/7-eleven-expands-loyalty-program-with-contactless-gas-payment-pilot\">7-Eleven expanded its Fuel Loyalty program<\/a>, updating it to allow for touchless payment, and piloted a <a href=\"https:\/\/brainstation.io\/2020\/02\/06\/7-eleven-pilots-new-cashierless-store-concept\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cashierless store concept<\/a> that allows customers to pay upon leaving, using only the app.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a first-of-its-kind endeavor, the popular convenience store chain <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/brainstation.io\/2020\/04\/23\/7-eleven-pop-up-lets-hospital-workers-pay-with-their-badge\" target=\"_blank\">opened a pop-up shop inside a children\u2019s hospital in Texas<\/a> at the start of the pandemic that allows hospital employees to pay for snacks, drinks, and other items using only their employee badges.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Need to Know&nbsp; 7-Eleven has launched its own mobile wallet, providing customers with a new, contactless way to pay.
