{"id":15487,"date":"2010-02-05T01:02:00","date_gmt":"2010-02-05T09:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/?p=15487"},"modified":"2010-02-06T10:02:04","modified_gmt":"2010-02-07T06:02:04","slug":"facebook-and","status":"publish","type":"magazine","link":"https:\/\/brainstation.io\/magazine\/facebook-and","title":{"rendered":"Facebook and Presumed Relevancy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of his <a href=\"http:\/\/socialmediaweek.org\/toronto\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Social Media Week (Toronto)<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/refresh-events.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Refresh Events<\/strong><\/a> presentation, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.un-marketing.com\/blog\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Scott Stratten<\/strong><\/a> stressed the importance of social media in helping company&#8217;s and people staying relevant to their audience.&nbsp; One of the things Scott covered was that in order to be relevant one must first engage and make &#8220;social deposits&#8221;.&nbsp; Only then can businesses or people make withdrawals from their social media bank account.<\/p>\n<p> In explaining the relevancy and importance of using social media to engage in conversations, Scott (with a little help from his friend) revealed Facebook&#8217;s new status update procedure.&nbsp; It&#8217;s something he calls &#8220;Presumed Relevancy&#8221;.&nbsp; In short, Facebook will show conversations and status updates that are being commented on and talked about (engaging) over comments that many people refer to as noise.<\/p>\n<p> Watch the video to learn more about this.
