Colin Hansen, Minister of Economic Development, <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.news.gov.bc.ca\/news_releases_2005-2009\/2008ECD0020-000563.htm\" target=\"_blank\">announced the launch<\/a> of a $90-million BC Renaissance Capital Fund (BCRCF) and has secured six top-tier institutional venture capital fund managers to help attract market expertise and venture capital investment to BC.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&ldquo;The BC Renaissance Capital Fund will help British Columbia develop world-class anchor companies and continue to build on the culture of innovation we have in this province,&rdquo; said Hansen. &ldquo;Attracting more private venture capital to B.C. will help our most promising and innovative companies to grow and create jobs.&rdquo;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The fund managers selected for the BCRCF are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.archventure.com\">Arch Venture Partners<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vpvp.com\">VantagePoint Venture Partners<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kearnyvp.com\">Kearny Ventures<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.waldenvc.com\">Walden Capital<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techvibes.com\/c\/Vancouver\/Venture_Capital\/Ventures_West.html\">Ventures West<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techvibes.com\/c\/Toronto\/Venture_Capital\/Celtic_House_Venture_Partners.html\">Celtic House Partners<\/a>. All six have a track record of building technology companies in BC and internationally. The BCRCF has committed $90 million of capital, which can be structured over a period of up to five years.
