{"id":65050,"date":"2015-10-14T07:10:00","date_gmt":"2015-10-14T03:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/?p=65050"},"modified":"2017-07-21T16:28:33","modified_gmt":"2017-07-21T20:28:33","slug":"chefs-plate","status":"publish","type":"magazine","link":"https:\/\/brainstation.io\/magazine\/chefs-plate","title":{"rendered":"Chefs Plate Raises $2 Million from Emil Capital, Others"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chefsplate.com\/\">Chefs Plate<\/a>, which wants to change how Canadians cook meals at home.<\/p>\n<p><!-- pagebreak --><\/p>\n<p>The Toronto based startup has raised $2 million in financing led by Emil Capital Partners with participation from BrandProject LP and existing investors.<\/p>\n<p>The company, less than a year old, has grown into a 50-person workforce, experiencing double-digit growth week-over-week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we started Chefs Plate, our vision was to make delicious, nutritious and affordable meals at home more accessible, and get Canadian back into their kitchens,\u201d said Jamie Shea, co-founder of Chefs Plate.<\/p>\n<p>Chefs Plate will use its new funding to expand nationally, the company says, with plans to build two new fulfillment centres in Canada\u2019s east and west coasts that will create new jobs. The company offers gourmet meal kits comprised of pre-portioned, farm-fresh ingredients with chef-inspired recipes, delivered directly to customers\u2019 doors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are working hard to build an efficient supply chain and infrastructure that connects consumers from coast to coast with local farmers,\u201d said Patrick Meyer, co-founder of Chefs Plate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChefs Plate is an industry leader and innovator in Canada, changing the way people cook and eat at home,\u201d stated Andrew Black, CEO of BrandProject, who also founded Virgin Mobile Canada.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been keenly watching the development of the meal-kit market in Canada; Chefs Plate\u2019s proven track record, and strong founding team are what attracted us to invest in them,\u201d said Andreas Guldin, CEO of Emil Capital.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chefs Plate, which wants to change how Canadians cook meals at home.
