This increase will enable Mistral Venture Partners to augment follow-on investments in its best portfolio companies.<\/p>\n<p>Since its first closing in January 2013, the fund has made investments in 12 startups and may invest in as many as five more. Mistral&rsquo;s investment focus is on smart enterprise companies.<\/p>\n<p>BDC Capital is the lead investor in Ottawa-based Mistral Venture Partners, which is headed by principal managing partner <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mistralvp.com\/#%21code-cubitt\/cml8\" target=\"_blank\">Code Cubitt<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Mistral has done an outstanding job in their first three years identifying high potential startups and supporting them,&rdquo; says Dominique B&eacute;langer, Managing Director of Fund Investments at BDC Capital. &ldquo;Their connections in Canada and the U.S. and the mentorship the team provides have made a big difference to their portfolio companies.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Mistral&rsquo;s portfolio includes five startups headquartered in the Ottawa region: <a href=\"http:\/\/cenx.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">CENX<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.klipfolio.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Klipfolio<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.giatecscientific.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Giatec Scientific<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/rare.io\" target=\"_blank\">Rare Logic<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebettersoftwarecompany.com\" target=\"_blank\">The Better Software Company<\/a>; Quebec&rsquo;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foko.co\/\" target=\"_blank\">Foko<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.omsignal.com\" target=\"_blank\">OMsignal<\/a>; <a href=\"http:\/\/toronto.ritual.co\" target=\"_blank\">Ritual<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/getsensibill.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sensibill<\/a> in Toronto; and two more located south of the border: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stockpile.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Stockpile<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/cloudcheckr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">CloudCheckr<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BDC Capital has committed an additional $3 million to the early stage venture capital fund managed by Mistral Venture Partners, bringing its total commitment to $6 million.
