{"id":71495,"date":"2016-08-24T13:32:28","date_gmt":"2016-08-24T17:32:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/techvibes.com\/?p=71495"},"modified":"2016-08-24T13:32:28","modified_gmt":"2016-08-24T17:32:28","slug":"google-lower-search-rankings-for-sites-that-use-annoying-pop-up-ads","status":"publish","type":"magazine","link":"https:\/\/brainstation.io\/magazine\/google-lower-search-rankings-for-sites-that-use-annoying-pop-up-ads","title":{"rendered":"Google to Lower Search Rankings for Sites That Use Annoying Pop-Up Ads on Mobile"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Google has decided to crack down on websites which force pop-up ads on mobile users, specifically those which are difficult to remove on mobile screens.<\/p>\n<p>The search engine leader describes these as &#8220;intrusive interstitials&#8221; and notes how frustrating these can be to users on smartphones with reduced screen space and proportionally tiny removal buttons.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;While the underlying content is present on the page and available to be indexed by Google, content may be visually obscured by an interstitial,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/webmasters.googleblog.com\/2016\/08\/helping-users-easily-access-content-on.html\">Google explains<\/a>. &#8220;Pages that show intrusive interstitials provide a poorer experience to users than other pages where content is immediately accessible.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>After January 10, 2017, Google says pages where content is not easily accessible to a user on the transition from the mobile search results may not rank as highly.
