{"id":73892,"date":"2016-10-18T13:00:27","date_gmt":"2016-10-18T17:00:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/techvibes.com\/?p=73892"},"modified":"2016-10-19T09:59:39","modified_gmt":"2016-10-19T13:59:39","slug":"samsung-smartphone-exchange-booths-at-airports-customers-travel","status":"publish","type":"magazine","link":"https:\/\/brainstation.io\/magazine\/samsung-smartphone-exchange-booths-at-airports-customers-travel","title":{"rendered":"Following Flight Ban, Samsung Setting Up Smartphone Exchange Booths at Airports Around World"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We reported earlier this week that Samsung&#8217;s latest flagship phone iteration, the Galaxy Note 7, <a href=\"https:\/\/borndigital.com\/2016\/10\/17\/samsung-galaxy-note-7-strictly-banned-from-all-us-flights\">has been strictly banned from all flights<\/a> leaving and entering the US.<\/p>\n<p>Samsung&#8217;s response is admirable\u2014and probably necessary: the company is opening booths at airports that allow customers to exchange their banned devices (which they cannot get through security or with checked baggage) for a different phone.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are working with airlines and airports . . . to arrange customer service points within high-traffic terminals where customers, who are unaware of the Galaxy Note 7 ban on flights, can arrange an alternative device at the airport,&#8221; the company says online.<\/p>\n<p>These customer service points at airports are open for most of each day and are located before security screening.<\/p>\n<p>After 100 known incidents of overheating devices\u2014including replacement models\u2014the Federal Aviation Administration decided to outright ban the phone for everyone&#8217;s safety.
