Announced at <a href=\"https:\/\/reinvent.awsevents.com\">its re:Invent developer event<\/a> in Las Vegas, the new service brings machine learning to third-party developers.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon doesn&#8217;t have many consumer-facing artificial intelligence products, but the company says it has been investing in the technology for a long time. According to Amazon Web Services CEO Andy Jassy, the company has &#8220;thousands&#8221; of employees dedicated to AI.<\/p>\n<p>The services initially available on Amazon&#8217;s AI platform are an image recognition service called \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/aws.amazon.com\/blogs\/aws\/amazon-rekognition-image-detection-and-recognition-powered-by-deep-learning\/\">Rekognition<\/a>,&#8221; a text-to-speech service called &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/aws.amazon.com\/blogs\/aws\/polly-text-to-speech-in-47-voices-and-24-languages\/\">Polly<\/a>,&#8221; and a chat bot service called &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/aws.amazon.com\/blogs\/aws\/amazon-lex-build-conversational-voice-text-interfaces\/\">Lex<\/a>,&#8221; which is based on the technology behind Alexa.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Amazon has launched an AI platform.
