A group of companies, many of them tech, have filed a legal brief opposing President Donald Trump\u2019s executive order on immigration.<\/p>\n
97 companies signed off on the amicus brief, including Apple, Facebook, Google, Netflix, and Snap.<\/p>\n
“Immigrants make many of the nation\u2019s greatest discoveries, and create some of the country\u2019s most innovative and iconic companies,” reads the brief. \u201cAmerica has long recognized the importance of protecting ourselves against those who would do us harm. But it has done so while maintaining our fundamental commitment to welcoming immigrants\u2014through increased background checks and other controls on people seeking to enter our country.\u201d<\/p>\n
Uber CEO Travis Kalanick, who also signed the brief, last week stepped down from Trump’s advisory council<\/a> after facing criticism.
