Aivia launched on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/607944280\/aivia-worlds-smartest-speaker-with-a-built-in-subw\" target=\"_blank\">Kickstarter<\/a> last week and\u00a0the Vancouver-based company behind the speaker has already reached its fundraising goal of $25,000.<\/p>\n<p>The smart speaker sets itself apart from similar products by other well-known\u00a0tech brands with its touchscreen panel, wireless phone charging station, eight-megapixel\u00a0camera and Bang\/Olufsen-designed subwoofer. Really more like a tablet and a speaker combined, Aivia lets users stream content over Bluetooth, wifi or AUX connections, in addition to accessing Youtube, Netflix and Spotify from the built-in 8-inch HD display.<\/p>\n<p>Integrated with Google Assistant,\u00a0Aivia&#8217;s voice-recognition and activation abilities\u00a0let users control the device much like a Google Home or Amazon Alexa, finding requested\u00a0songs across various music apps. The two large\u00a0speakers and a dedicated subwoofer mean Aivia also produces high-end audio\u2014resulting in what the company bills as better sound quality than\u00a0other smart speakers on the market.<\/p>\n<p>Aivia does have some tough competition following recent announcement by notable companies in the smart device and\u00a0speaker industry.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Google unveiled its <a href=\"https:\/\/borndigital.com\/2017\/10\/04\/google-takes-on-the-home-with-the-mini-and-max\" target=\"_blank\">upgraded Google Home<\/a> for music lovers called the Max. It comes equipped with\u00a04.5-inch subwoofers, what Google said is\u00a020 times more powerful than the original Google Home. Sonos entered the smart speaker market <a href=\"https:\/\/borndigital.com\/2017\/10\/05\/sonos-enters-smart-speaker-market-powers-amazon-alexa\" target=\"_blank\">last week<\/a>\u00a0too,\u00a0revealing its\u00a0Sonos One speaker can now\u00a0support multiple voice services, including\u00a0Amazon Alexa.<\/p>\n<p>Aivia runs for $399 USD, the same price as Google&#8217;s new Max and slightly more than the Sonos One at $350 USD.\u00a0SproutBox expects the speaker to be delivered as early as October 2018.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hear this: a portable voice-activated smart speaker with a touchscreen, wireless charging and built-in subwoofers is on the market.
