Freelancer Acquires Toronto’s Scriptlance to Gain Canadian Foothold

Freelancer.com, an outsourcing and crowdsourcing marketplace, today announced that it has acquired Canada’s homegrown Scriptlance, earmarking the launch of dedicated freelance marketplace Freelancer.ca in Canada.

Headquartered in Toronto, Scriptlance has over 360,000 users in 244 countries who have posted more than 600,000 projects and paid out $43 million to freelancers.

Through Freelancer.ca, Canadian businesses and professionals can post jobs, hire and pay a freelance digital workforce in Canadian dollars. Scriptlance will alow the site to launch with over 100,000 Canadian users.  The acquisition brings Freelancer to more than four million users and over 2.3 million projects and ranks first in the world for traffic in its industry.
