Accion Labs to Open New Location in Markham
Accion Labs is expanding into Canada with a new office in Markham, Ontario.
The Pittsburgh-based Accion announced the plans for a new Canadian outpost this week, dubbed Accion Labs Canada. The company has locations around the world, including India, Australia, Malaysia and the U.K.
Accion declared Markham as a “perfect fit for the growing technology industry,” according to a release. The company even described Markham as Canada’s very own Silicon Valley, due to the number of prominent tech companies with offices in the city of 330,000, including IBM, Honeywell and AMD Technologies.
“We have been watching the incredible growth in Canada has had in recent years along with its business-friendly environment,” said Kinesh Doshi, CEO of Accion Labs.
Lee Groff has been appointed to head the new Accion Labs Canada. Groff has over 25 years of experience in the IT industry and has run both public and private companies within Canada and abroad.
“Lee brings deep experience in the Canada and Latin American markets,” said Doshi. “His motivational leadership style, outcome focus, employee-centric approach and innovation-in-everything philosophy will further strengthen Accion’s leadership team.”
Accion was founded in 2011 and works with tech firms and IT companies in fields including rich internet applications, SaaS, DevOps and more. They will help organizations build new products and re-engineer legacy offerings to leverage new technologies.
The company did not immediately respond regarding the size of the new location and how many employees will be hired or relocated.
