Carrot Rewards Reaches New Milestone and Launches Monetization Strategy

Canadian wellness app Carrot Rewards, is celebrating their massive milestone of one million users with the launch of Carrot Plus, a subscription version of the app that enables users to earn points more rapidly. The app has had resounding success in Canada so far, with Carrot reaching one billion points awarded this past March, and has doubled that number in less than a year, totalling two billion points awarded to date.

Carrot Rewards awards users points when they reach daily walking goals and complete fitness challenges. Points are awarded from major loyalty programs including Aeroplan, SCENE, Drop, Petro-Points, and most recently – RBC. The Carrot Plus program will give users the opportunity to earn more points, with a three-tier monthly subscription model of $1.99, $3.99, or $5.99 per month. The three tiers allow members to earn 2x, 5x, or 10x the points, respectively, and after a year of membership become eligible to receive thousands of bonus points.

“Now that we’ve proven the unique power of everyday wellness incentives, now that we know the positive difference Carrot can make in the daily wellness and physical activity levels of entire populations, now is the time to raise our impact bar again by offering Canadians the option to earn even more rewards for staying active each day,” said Andreas Souvaliotis, founder and CEO of Carrot Rewards.

“We are proud of the incredible difference we’ve made in the lives of one million people and we’re ready to create even more engagement and positive behaviour changes across the country.”

This appears to be just the beginning of the company’s success, which is ranked in the Top 10 Loyalty Programs in Canada, Canadian App of the Year, and one of Canadian Business Week and Maclean’s Fastest Growing Companies. Points programs have become increasingly more relevant over the last few years as companies strive to retain customers and build on personalizing offers, and Carrot is looking to take hold of that trend while also betting on the notion of wellness.
