Dragons’ Den Embarks on Nationwide Tour in Search of Entrepreneurs
Start rehearsing that pitch in a mirror.
The famous television show turned launching pad Dragons’ Den is putting out a call to all kinds of aspiring entrepreneurs to put together their best elevator pitch and vie for a chance to be featured on the show’s twelfth season.
Beginning on February 10, an audition tour will kick off starting in Toronto. These auditions will be open to the public as producers traverse the country looking for the most innovative and out-there ideas to potentially bring in front of the Dragons.
The tour will have 38 stops and hit 34 unique cities. The big ones like Vancouver, Calgary and Montreal are included along with stops in smaller cities like Belleville, Nanaimo and Prince George. Check out the full list here.
The auditions will welcome participants of all ages with businesses in any stage of development. There is no prior funding or massive sales required, though of course, they will help in the long run. To take part, the producers recommend applying online then bringing a completed application form to the audition.
Hopeful entrepreneurs should be ready to pitch their product in five minutes or less to Dragons’ Den producers. If they have what it takes, selected pitchers will be chosen to travel to Toronto to face the Dragons themselves.
The Dragons are some of Canada’s most famous investors and tech vanguards. They include Arlene Dickinson, Joe Mimran, Manjit Minhas, Jim Treliving, Michael Wekerle, and Michele Romanow, a finalist for the 2017 Canadian Innovation Awards‘ Angel Investor of the Year.
Over the years, Dragons’ Den has seen million in funding distributed to various companies and entrepreneurs. Endy secured a million dollars for their bed in a box while other startups like Flashfood and Tapplock picked up equity as well.
