Facebook is the latest company to enter the world of original video content.
According to sources cited in The Hollywood Reporter, the producers of American Ninja Warrior are developing a reality show for Facebook called Last State Standing, which will see one person from each US state compete in a series of games and challenges for $500,000.
Facebook is also working on a scripted comedy based on a cancelled MTV show.
The moves are part of a growing of Facebook’s video ecosystem, which will balance short-form content from digital producers like Vox Media and BuzzFeed and television-style series, as the social network looks to distribute original video to its 1.9 billion active users.
