SAP, Paysafe and Shopify Lead Canada’s Top Ranked Workplaces

Job seekers and switchers may want to look at Glassdoor’s yearly listicle of the top workplaces in Canada to prioritize the hunt for their next gig.

The jobs site has released its 2018 Best Places To Work In Canada based on anonymous employee feedback. Glassdoor ranked companies in Canada based on key workplace attributes like career opportunities, benefits, culture, senior management and work-life balance. Employees were also asked to rank their CEO and share what they determined to be the pros and cons of working for their employer.

While only three of the highest ranked companies are in fact Canadian-grown, the top ten best workplaces in the country for 2018 are:

  1. SAP
  2. Paysafe Group
  3. Shopify
  4. Microsoft
  5. Salesforce
  6. Lululemon
  7. Apple
  8. Ceridian
  9. Hydro One
  10. Starbucks

In its 10th annual ranking, technology companies swept the top spots. That can’t be seen as a surprising trend when they are some of the most sought-after firms to work for and undergo competitive hiring processes. A strong company culture, as well as a defined mission and relatable values, are all embedded in the fabric of many technology companies too.

Glassdoor CEO and co-founder Robert Hohman said using the feedback from employees to determine the best places to work help people find companies that “stand out from the pack.”

“We know today’s job seekers are more informed than ever about where they go to work, researching everything from company culture to career opportunities to pay philosophy and more,” said Hohman.

“Employers where employees love to work continue to prove that they have a recruiting and business performance advantage,” Hohman added.

Ubisoft, PointClickCare and RBC also cracked the top 25 list. The ranking was compiled using reviews submitted by Canadian-based employees between November 1, 2016 and October 22, 2017.
