Shaw Closes $1.6-Billion Acquisition of Wind Mobile

Shaw’s $1.6 billion acquisition of Wind Mobile has formally closed.

Shaw is now the primary competitor to the “Big Three” of Rogers, Telus, and Bell.

Last month the federal Competition Bureau decided it would not challenge the acquisition. Prior to the acquisition Shaw owned no wireless assets.

Wind Mobile has more than 940,000 subscribers in Canada.

Wind Mobile serves approximately 940,000 subscribers across Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta.

Shaw has indicated that it intends to raise Wind’s average revenue per user to match the incumbents.
