Uber Vancouver Petition Almost at Goal of 50,000 Signatures

Uber is close to reaching its goal of 50,000 signatures on a petition to let the company operate in Vancouver.

Currently at 46,000 signatures, the petition exists because Uber says it “Uber wants to work with officials across British Columbia to develop common sense regulations for ridesharing that recognize and support the benefits this new business model brings to riders, drivers and cities alike.”

“The local taxi interests are fixated on finding ways to block the introduction of this new and desperately needed technological advancement in Vancouver and British Columbia — at the expense of consumer choice and safety,” reads the petition letter, which Uber will send to the provincial and municipal governments.

Uber is present in 330 cities across 61 countries.
