AI Product Design Course Curriculum

  1. Unit 1

    UX Strategy & AI-Powered Research

Great UX design is strategic problem-solving, not pixel-pushing. Establish a strategic foundation by mastering the human-centered UX principles used by top-tier product teams. Learn how you can integrate AI directly into your workflow to help brainstorm concepts, summarize complex research, and role-play user scenarios. Mastering these tools will allow you to accelerate your process and uncover deeper insights.

    • Figma
    • ChatGPT
    Key skills:
Design ThinkingUser ResearchUser InterviewsPersonas & Empathy MappingAI-Driven Research & Strategy
    • Master the Design Thinking Framework

Move beyond theory with fundamental concepts. Apply the industry-standard human-centered design methodology to gather user feedback, identify core user problems, and define a viable product strategy for innovative solutions.

    • Conduct Interviews & Build Data-Driven Personas

Avoid assumptions. Plan and conduct unbiased user interviews, and translate research insights into empathy maps and personas that serve as the source of truth for your product.

  2. Unit 2

    Information Architecture, Wireframing & Prototyping

Great designs need a strong foundation. Translate abstract strategies into structural blueprints that can withstand real-world use. Through practical exercises, master Information Architecture (IA) to organize complex content systems, then rigorously validate your logic by building interactive prototypes in Figma, ensuring key concepts and functionality are proven before high-fidelity design begins.

    • Figma
    Key skills:
Information ArchitectureCard SortingTree TestingUser & Task FlowsWireframingRapid PrototypingInteraction Design
    • Master Information Architecture

Organize the chaos. Utilize foundational skills like card sorting and tree testing to structure complex content hierarchies. Build navigation systems that match user mental models, ensuring information is logically grouped and instantly discoverable.

    • Engineer User & Task Flows

Translate user needs into interface logic. Develop comprehensive user and task flows that account for success paths and edge cases. Define the system's response to every interaction, solving usability friction on paper before it reaches the screen.

    • Wireframing & Prototyping

Move from static sketches to dynamic experiences. Practice creating wireframes and evolving them into clickable Figma prototypes. Use these artifacts to test and iterate on your design concepts to validate your decisions before committing to high-fidelity design.

  3. Unit 3

    User Interface (UI) Design

User Interface design is more than decorative: it’s structural. Move beyond simple aesthetics and master the rigorous systems - grids, typography, and atomic components - that allow products to scale. Build a solid foundation with style guides that ensure consistency, eliminate design debt, and streamline handoff to development.

    • Figma
    Key skills:
User Interface (UI) DesignGrids & LayoutsTypography & HierarchyDesign SystemsStyle Guides
    • Master Grids & Layouts

Design with precision and speed. Move past static frames and utilize Figma’s Auto Layout to create flexible, responsive interfaces that adapt fluidly to content changes.

    • Typography & Visual Hierarchy

Guide the user's eye. Master type hierarchy to drive user behavior, ensuring key information stands out and is easy to scan. Move beyond "font choice" and treat typography as an essential component of your UI design.

    • Build Scalable Style Guides

Drive consistent designs by organizing your essential elements into a scalable style guide. You will analyze best-in-class examples and apply those principles to build a robust foundation for your own personal project.

  4. Unit 4

    Usability, Accessibility & Your Portfolio

Great design needs to work for everyone. Get hands-on experience verifying your product through user testing and accessibility checks, and compile your findings into a strategic UX Case Study that demonstrates the rationale and logic behind your design decisions.

    • Stark
    • Tota11y
    • Material Design Color Tool
    Key skills:
Usability TestingHeuristic EvaluationInclusive DesignStorytelling With Data
    • Conduct Usability Testing & Heuristic Audits

Stop guessing. Learn to conduct usability tests and evaluate your product against industry-standard heuristics to identify and fix friction points before web development begins.

    • Learn Heuristics & Accessible Design Best Practices

Go beyond color contrast. Learn to evaluate digital products through the lens of usability heuristics. Gain the skills to identify and implement accessible design methods, ensuring your solutions are usable by the widest possible audience.

    • Your Portfolio Project & Presentation

It is not enough to design well; you must also be able to sell your vision. Learn to articulate your design rationale and package your end-to-end process into a professional portfolio project.

  • Usability, Accessibility & PortfolioRun usability testing, apply inclusive and accessible design, and develop your portfolio.

No prior experience is required. The course is beginner-friendly and does not assume any design or technical background. You will learn the UX and product design process from the ground up, including how to use AI to support your research and strategy, regardless of your starting point.

You will get hands-on experience with the industry-standard design toolkit, centered on Figma for wireframing, prototyping, and UI design. You will use AI tools like ChatGPT to accelerate user research and strategy, and work with accessibility tools such as Stark and Tota11y to design inclusive, accessible products.

Yes. AI is an accelerator, not a replacement for design skill. The core of the course is the full UX and product design process: user research, information architecture, wireframing and prototyping, UI design, and usability and accessibility. AI is used to speed up research and strategy, but the foundational design skills remain the heart of the program.

You will build portfolio-ready work as you progress through the course, applying each stage of the design process to real-world projects. The final part of the course focuses on developing your portfolio, so you finish with design work you can showcase to employers and put to use in your career.

This course is beginner-friendly and designed to be compatible with people from all professional backgrounds and career paths. It's well suited to anyone looking to transition into Product Design or UX Design, or to enhance their existing UX skills. No prior experience is required to get started.

Classes are taught live by experienced product and UX designers who work in roles at top companies (like Amazon, Meta, and Microsoft). They bring real-world experience designing digital products used by millions and use AI in their own work, so you get practical insights into what it takes to get hired and thrive as a product designer.

The course is a part-time, 8-week program designed for working professionals. It requires 3 hours of live instruction per week, which you will attend in person at one of our locations in either New York, Toronto, or London, or entirely live online. Students typically spend an additional 2 to 4 hours per week applying what they've learned to their hands-on design work.

Absolutely. Because this course builds practical, in-demand design and AI skills, it qualifies for most corporate Learning & Development budgets.
