With March 8th marking International Women's Day, this month's panel will be profiling female leaders who are making their mark in different fields within the tech industry. The panel will be an intimate discussion with inspiring women who have paved their way to become digital leaders, sharing their advice, both personal and professional, on achieving career success.

We'll be closing with a Q&A session, giving you the opportunity to ask our panelists questions on leadership, empowerment, breaking stereotypes and much more. This is also a great place to network with other like-minded creatives and innovators and celebrate women leading in technology.

Ladies Learning Code is a Canada-wide not-for-profit organization that runs programs for Canadians who want to learn beginner-friendly computer programming and other technical skills in a social and collaborative way. Today, Ladies Learning Code operates 29+ Chapters across Canada offering technology training workshops for women, youth and educators who want to become passionate builders, not just consumers of technology.

Speakers

Penny Wilson has more than 30 years of experience in senior marketing and executive leadership roles, primarily in the technology industry. Her previous roles include Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Juniper Networks, CMO and senior vice president at Macromedia and executive positions at Alias | Wavefront and Merrill Lynch.

Penny brings her decades of unmatchable expertise to her current role as CMO of Hootsuite—a global leader in social media with more than 15 million users, including 800+ of the Fortune 1000.

 

Sunny Lenarduzzi has almost a decade of experience as an award winning video, social media and online business strategist. From tech start up’s to authors, Sunny has worked with clients across industries – helping Hootsuite develop a YouTube series that increased subscriptions by 75%. Sunny took home the award for 'Best in Social Media' for Western Canada in 2014, given to her by Notable, an organization that recognizes young professionals across Canada.

 

Charla Pereira is a senior designer for Microsoft, currently working on Microsoft HoloLens. She has been innovating with technology for 20 years professionally and in love with experimentation and storytelling from early childhood. Her first works were creating for both paper and 2D screens in the startup days of the internet for clients such as The Jackson 5 and The Air National Guard, she was one of the first to bring 3D games and interfaces to the internet.

 

 

Reena Bains is a Staff Engineer on the Android team at Slack and has spent the last 10 years focused on development for mobile devices - Symbian, BlackBerry, iOS, and Android. Her new passion is helping women feel more confident about starting their careers in tech by sharing her experiences and giving insight into the many different roles in the industry.

 

Katie Drechsel is Vice President of Marketing at Saje Natural Wellness. She is passionate about using digital media to connect, build brands, and support offline engagements. Prior to joining Saje, Katie was the Director of Digital and eCommerce at Vega.

 

 

The panel will be moderated by Caroline Carter, who has a made a career of knowing the newsworthy and helping companies discover and achieve their dream headlines. 

Currently, Caroline is the Co-founder of CSuite Content, an elite thought leadership consultancy for CEOs and senior executives looking to refine their entrepreneurial brand and launch successful content campaigns in top tier tech and business press. Her clients' content is regularly featured in publications including Fast Company, Inc., Forbes, Entrepreneur, TIME, Venturebeat, Business Insider, The Globe and Mail, The National Post, and more.
