Canadian Startup Buddybuild Attracts Interest from Silicon Valley Investors

Vancouver’s Buddybuild has raised a Series A round.

The $7.6 USD round was led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, a Silicon Valley firm, despite the startup’s vow to stay in Canada.

All preexisting investors, including Amplify Partners, Bloomberg Beta and First Round Capital, also participated in the round.

“It’s clear that mobile is where we do most of our computing, but existing solutions in this space are an inhibitor to a team’s desire to iterate quickly,” said Mike Abbott, partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers. “Buddybuild is central to this shift. It’s leading the creation of a new market segment with a seamless development platform that lets developers bridge their build, test, deploy and feedback processes.”

Launched in October 2015, Buddybuild improves the development workflow used by all mobile app developers.

“At buddybuild, we’re squarely focused on creating a comprehensive build, test, deploy and user feedback platform that developers love, and use to build better apps, faster,” said Dennis Pilarinos, CEO of buddybuild. “We’re humbled to secure our Series A from Kleiner Perkins and have all of our existing investors participate in this round of financing. It means we have the resources to grow and support developers everywhere.”
