Canadian Startup Wins 2015 Cartier World Women Entrepreneur Award
Vancouver’s MyBestHelper and co-founder Dr. Alexandra Greenhill have been selected as the winner of the 2015 Laureate for the Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards for the North American region.
Since the creation of the competition, myBestHelper is only the second Canadian company to ever receive the nod, after the 2009 finalist selection of Michelle Romanow, then CEO of Evandale Caviar (now better known as one of the Dragons on CBC’s Dragons’ Den).
“We are re-imagining how families need to be supported in the digital age and are delighted that our innovative approach is being recognized,” said Alexandra Greenhill, cofounder of myBestHelper. “The family space has remained largely left behind social media and tech revolution, but we are changing that.”
The Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards are an international business plan competition created in 2006 by Cartier, the Women’s Forum, McKinsey & Company and INSEAD business school to identify, support and encourage projects by women entrepreneurs.
“We believe technology has the potential to transform the lives of families by giving them more options and making them more connected within their families and to the community and networks around them” Greenhill told Techvibes.
“We are thrilled to have been able to represent Vancouver and the tech community across Canada and to bring back the trophy” said Rob Attwell, Greenhill’s co-founder and myBestHelper Chief Operating Officer. He went on to say “Canada is a hotbed of tech talent and innovation and we are proud to be part of it.”
