Darren Entwistle Stepping Down as CEO of Telus
The chief executive of Telus is stepping down from his role.
Darren Entwistle, who has been CEO of the Vancouver-based telco since 2000, will become the company’s executive chair on May 8, the same day that chief commercial officer Joe Natale takes over as president and CEO. Brian Canfield, who was Telus’ non-executive Chair since 1999, will retire after 58 years of service with Telus and be honoured with Chairman Emeritus distinction.
“Through our comprehensive succession planning process, I am very confident that Telus is positioned for continuing success with Darren Entwistle as our new Executive Chair, Joe Natale becoming our President and CEO, and Dick Auchinleck being appointed the company’s Lead Director,” said Canfield.
“I am very pleased that our best-in-class succession planning process has resulted in Joe Natale being named as our next President and CEO and am excited to continue working with him in leading the progression of our national growth strategy,” Entwistle agreed.
“I am honoured to be appointed Telus’ next President and CEO,” stated Natale.
The announcements were made ahead of the company’s Annual General Meeting on May 8.
