Facebook Wants to Help Users Rent Homes in Canada
Another key feature designed to take advantage of Facebook’s massive reach has been rolled out to Canada.
The social media giant has enhanced its marketplace to now allow users to look and shop for home rentals. The feature was previously made available in the U.S. late last year and has now debuted in Canada, though it will take a few weeks to fully roll out to every user.
Rental options through Facebook will be offered with RentSeeker and Zumper as partners. Users can search through units in the social media platform’s marketplace and use custom filters for price, bedrooms, bathrooms, rental type, and more. There is also a broad selection of rental listings from agents, landlords and property managers. Those looking for a new place can also search via a map feature and then reach out to the owner fo the unit within Facebook itself.
To begin listing on Facebook, property managers must first create a business for their page then sign up with either RentSeeker or Zumper. Owners can just go through the marketplace and list a rental as if it were a normal sale item. Facebook has said they will continue to expand their breadth of partners down the line as well.
Facebook has been active in Canada over the past year, continually expanding their marketplace and expanding U.S.-only features. The company has also worked to improve digital literacy and battle against election fraud with several initiatives in the past six months.
