Google Plans New Pixel Smartphones, Chromebook for October

Google has some big announcements planned for autumn.

Google intends to launch its second generation of Pixel smartphones on October 5—almost exactly one year after the company introduced the original lineup last year, according to VentureBeat’s Evan Blass,

The next-gen Pixels are expected to have 4GB of RAM and utilize Snapdragon 836 processors. The standard Pixel will feature a 5-inch, 1080p display, while the XL will boast a 6-inch, 1440p panel.

Phones may not be the only trick up Google’s sleeve, however. According to a source cited in Android Police, Google also plans to launch an all-new, Pixel-branded Chromebook.

If true, it would be Google’s first new Chromebook since 2015. The specs are mere speculation, but some suspect the device could be designed to compete with Microsoft’s Surface Pro, offering a 12-inch screen, up to 128GB of storage, and up to 16GB of RAM. The price would likely fall around $800, rumours suggest.

Finally, Google may cap things off by launching an updated Home device. It’s expected to be a smaller, cheaper version of the original device Google introduced last year—again, at the same fall event.
