iPhone 7 to Get Storage Upgrades, from 32GB Base to Possible 256GB Maximum

Apple has always been stingy with storage. Whether it’s their Macbook, iPad, or iPhone, the company has always forced users to pay a hefty premium for a reasonable amount of storage—with base options, like 16GB for an iPad, starting laughably small.

The iPhone 7 will address this longstanding concern, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. The 16GB iPhone model may finally be replaced with a base storage of 32GB, sources suggest.

More interesting: the next-gen iPhone, at least its “Plus” size model, could have a 256GB option. The move would mirror that of the iPad. Until the recent Pro generation launched, users chose 16GB or 64GB. With the Pro, they choose 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB. The iPhone 7 Plus appears poised to copy this move.

Based on current rumors, the new iPhone is expected to feature a minor redesign, including a thinner and more-resistant body, and the removal of the headphone jack. The camera is also expected to be better. There hasn’t been any news surrounding the battery, although better battery remains a top request from consumers.
