Jean Kovacs: ‘I’m Very Bullish on the State of Vancouver Entrepreneurship Going Forward’
Even though Vancouver sorely lacks angel investors and loses entrepreneurs to Silicon Valley regularly, that doesn’t mean the city isn’t still a booming goldmine of brilliant entrepreneurs launching amazing startups. Jean Kovacs certainly believes this.
Jean is the president of the Harvard Business School Alumni Angels Association of Northern California, so she is well aware of Silicon Valley’s vibrant and consistently successful startup ecosystem. But that doesn’t dampen her spirits when considering Vancouver’s bright future.
“I’m very bullish on the state of Vancouver entrepreneurship going forward,” she said in a roundtable discussion on angel investing for BCBusiness. “The entrepreneurs here are phenomenal; you’ve got the roots and now you’re building the infrastructure.”
“We’re definitely an entrepreneurial town,” Mike Edwards of GrowLabs agreed. “That is in our blood. People are always hustling and trying to figure out ideas.”
