It appears we’re damn good at what we do.
Less than two weeks after listing Slack on our April edition of the Techvibes 20—a bi-monthly list highlighting the moment’s hottest and most promising tech startups across Canada—the Vancouver-born startup has allegedly raised a whopping $30 million in fresh funding, according to a report from TechCrunch. How’s that for the TV20 doing its job?
For those who don’t know, Slack was launched by Stewart Butterfield, a Canadian entrepreneur who founded Flickr, which was acquired by Yahoo for a tidy sum. Slack was built by Tiny Speck, which previously created a game called Glitch and so far has raised $17 million from the likes of Andreessen Horowitz and Accel Partners.
In a nutshell, Slack is a collaboration platform targeted at enterprises. It lets users port in conversations and links to other work from other apps, such as Dropbox and GitHub.
