Slacker Radio comes to Canada

Earlier this morning, Jasmine France of reported that Canadians are finally able to build their own station on Slacker Radio.   sr

Jasmine reports that Slacker Radio’s tight relationship with the people at BlackBerry helped aided them in their foray north of the 49th.  Although many Canadian music lovers will be thrilled at the news there will be major differences in the service.

  • Residents will only have access to the free Slacker Basic Radio for up to 30 days.
  • After 30 days they will then have the option of upgrading to the Plus service for $3.99 per month.

To those unfamiliar with the service here is what can be expected:

  • Listeners will be able to access more than 60 preprogrammed stations as well as create their own custom stations.
  • The Plus service also offers ad-free listening, complete song lyrics, unlimited song skipping, and song requests.

Because of their friendship expect Slacker Radio to be available to Canadians as an App on BlackBerry and Android devices (iPhone/iPod Touch coming soon). And of course there’s the normal Slacker interface options: heart/ban, pause/skip, and “peek ahead” to the next track.

According to the Slacker Radio website, Canadian residents may enjoy music from professionally programmed Genre stations, or use the popular Station Creator to create any number of custom stations.
