Startup Fest Announces Pitch Competition Winners: Vanhawks and Blynk Win Big
After hundreds of pitches at the International Startup Festival in Montreal this week they have announced the winners of ten different award categories.
Open to all startups at the event, the $100k Investment Prize comes in the form of a friendly convertible debenture.
Next36 alumni Blynk won the $100k Investment Prize.
The Toronto-based startup has created a new app that provides personalized fashion recommendations via a Tinder-like interface.
Chosen from hundreds of applications, twelve startups took the stage and pitched for the bragging rights of having the Best Pitch, as determined by an expert panel of judges.
FounderFuel grad Vanhawks won Best Pitch.
Vanhawks’ Valour bike has been a crowdfunding phenom. The Valour connects to iOS, Android and Pebble through Bluetooth and tracks rider statistics in real-time including the route, distance, speed, and time.

- The Grandmother’s Choice Award (The 2012 winner of this award was acquired by Facebook): Neuroscan Pro
- Videotron Business Solutions/MAtv Prize (Three Quebec-based startups selected to pitch from hundreds of applicants): Navut
- ideaBOOST Accelerator Prize (Pitch for a guaranteed spot in ideaBOOST’s fourth cohort): Tunestar
- Audience Choice Award: Vanhawks
