The Summify iPhone app is here but the startup’s co-founders might not be in Canada for much longer.
For those new to Summify, the service essentially analyzes and filters your social web so you can read less but get more out of it.
Summify is based on a highly refined algorithm that analyzes, among other things, what people you interact with most, what stories your friends are sharing most, and global reaction in social media to important stories worldwide.
Our goal was to create an app that would deliver a beautiful user experience and make it easy to consume the five or ten stories that matter most. Most notable are the large images and standout headlines, designed to keep your focus on what’s important – the stories. You will also enjoy the intuitive navigation, automatic summary notifications, and the ability to manage settings right from your iPhone. The all-new, graphically rich redesign is just a sneak peak of what is yet to come.
Techvibes has been covering Vancouver-based Summify since it pivoted into a Social News Reader last summer and most recently when it raised a round in March from Accel Partners and a number of other investors.
Summify’s Romanian co-founders have become poster boys for the Startup Visa Canada movement. An article in yesterday’s Globe and Mail by Joe Friesen tells their story and illustrates that the pair don’t have is a clearly defined path to permanent residency in Canada.
Techvibes included Paşoi and Strat on our Digital Media People to Watch in BC list for 2011. Let’s hope they’re able to stay in BC!
