Toronto’s Vortex Mobile acquired by Transcontinental

Yesterday Transcontinental announced its acquisition of Toronto’s Vortxt Interactive – a leading provider of integrated mobile solutions doing business as Vortex Mobile.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Transcontinental media group, they’re the leading publisher of consumer magazines and French-language educational resources, and of community newspapers in Quebec and the Atlantic provinces.

Through this acquisition (and there acquisition of Lipso Mobile earlier this year), Transcontinental is adding the capacity to design and implement end-to-end marketing campaigns using mobile and social media channels.

Founded in 2004, Vortex Mobile was a privately held company. Transaction information and purchase price were not released.

Yesterday 38 Vortex employees joined the 900 employees in Transcontinental’s Marketing Communications Sector. Total staff at Transcontinental is over 11,000 Canada wide.
