VR Startup Vizor Raises Seed Round, Launches Beta
Vizor has raised a seed round. The virtual reality startup, which showcased its technology at the Facebook Developer Conference in California this week, secured $2.3 million from The Venture Reality Fund and Inventure.
The Helsinki-based startup says the funds will help enhance the development and functionality of its platform, for which a beta just launched. The company’s technology allows users to produce 360-degree tours, stories, and WebVR experiences by dragging and dropping media components.
“Immersive web is the next iteration of the internet, and our goal is to make it as seamless as possible for businesses and storytellers to fill the world with new, inspiring and beautiful virtual reality content,” said Kaarlo Kananen, founder of Vizor. “Our investors understand the value in evolving our platform and the limitless creative possibilities it can unlock.”
The goal of Vizor is to lower the barrier of entry into creating custom virtual reality content.
“Vizor’s platform is truly innovative and can be applied to any industry, representing tremendous market opportunity on a global scale,” said Marco DeMiroz, cofounder of The VR Fund. “By combining virtual reality with the power and accessibility of the web, Vizor is redefining the future of how WebVR content can be created and viewed.”
Boost VC, Lifeline Ventures, and Sisu Game Ventures also contributed to Vizor’s seed round. Marco DeMiroz of The VR Fund and Ekaterina Gianelli of Inventure will be joining the company’s Board of Directors.
