Vision Critical Hires Derek Smyth, Former Managing Director of Omers Ventures, as CRO
Vancouver-based Vision Critical has announced that Derek Smyth, a former managing director at OMERS Ventures and, has joined the company as chief revenue officer.
A respected venture capitalist, Smyth will work with Vision’s sales and marketing teams on global go-to-market strategies to accelerate growth, enter new markets and deliver a world-class customer experience, according to the Canadian company.
“Derek is a major player in the investment community and has a keen eye for selecting and grooming Canada’s rising stars,” says Scott Miller, group CEO of Vision Critical. “His track record is impeccable, and his customer-centric approach aligns well with our core philosophies.”
While at OMERS Ventures, Smyth led numerous investments for recognized technology companies, including Hootsuite, Hopper, BuildDirect, Desire2Learn, and Vidyard. As a partner at Edgeston Capital he managed investments for many companies, such as Varicent Software (purchased by IBM) and Rypple (purchased by Salesforce).
