Your Next Job is Right Here: Tech Fest Toronto Edition

Are you looking for work in Canada’s growing tech sector?

We’ve selected a few from our job board to get you started in your search.

All of these companies are hiring at Tech Fest Toronto in September.

Big Viking Games is looking for a Technical Director in Toronto or London, Ontario

The mobile game developer is looking for someone with at least five years of experience developing for mobile (preferably games) to be its “head honcho of engineering.”

That means “you will be point man for the management and growth of all programmers within the studio through team leadership and mentorship, in addition to taking part in the hiring process for future team members alongside recruiting.”

The job also involves code reviews, helping to develop technical guidelines and setting milestones.

In addition to five years of development experience, at least two years of experience as a technical lead or director; a portfolio of published games; and knowledge of Flash, HTML5 and/or Unity are also required.

Clio is looking for an Account Executive in Toronto

Selling to lawyers seems like it would be a bit of a challenge – but if that’s a challenge you’re up for, then you might want to think about applying for this job.

Clio, which makes cloud-based software to help lawyers manage their practices, needs “a natural closer … with a track record of over-achieving sales goals” to sell its product.

They want someone who isn’t just comfortable selling cloud-based enterprise products but who is also comfortable using them for work, things like Google Apps, salesforce.com, Dropbox and Marketo.

FreshBooks is looking for a Mobile Developer in Toronto

The cloud accounting startup wants “skilled mobile developers who have multi-platform experience developing applications on iPhone/iPad and Android frameworks.”

The job will involve working on new and existing features for the company’s app.

Developers will work on both the Android and iOS apps, and they’re willing to give people who only know one the chance to learn the other.

They use Objective-C and Xcode for iOS development and Java and IntelliJ for Android, so if you’re familiar with them, that’s probably a good thing.

FreshBooks also sounds like a pretty cool place to work, with an on-site gym, company choir, gaming nights and paid volunteer days.

VarageSale is looking for a Product Designer in Toronto

If you have a fine arts degree and want to work in tech, this is probably the job for you.

The online marketplace is looking for “someone that can design beautiful mobile and web experiences with a simple, intuitive and clean user experience.”

“Strong UI/UX experience” is pretty important as is “an impressive portfolio that showcases experience and understanding of typography, layout, colour, and general visual design principles (you can do everything from wireframes to high-fidelity mockups).”

And yes, a BFA or MFA is something they’re looking for (though it’s not required).

EventMobi is looking for a UI / UX Designer in Toronto

This event app platform for conferences and trade shows wants someone to help develop new features and products.

They want someone who can take an idea from wireframes and research to design and write the HTML/CSS code.

Right now they’re working on “bringing native app experiences to the mobile web” and designing real-time dashboards. While that might not be what you’re working on, it’ll probably be something like that.

They want someone with between one and three years of experience and a strong portfolio.
