Can you tell us more about what your typical day looks like as a Digital Marketing Specialist?
My role involves monitoring accounts, identifying new potential campaign strategies, reporting on relevant performance metrics, and more! It feels like I am learning something new almost every single day, which is what I love!
Can you tell us a bit about your education and career background?
I have a diploma in business management. During my studies, I developed experience in social media management, event planning, and graphic design from volunteering for student organizations. I did not have any formal education in marketing, I just learned everything on the spot.
Why did you choose to study at BrainStation?
I never thought of digital marketing as my passion and career goal until I graduated and worked in an administrative role for two years. I ended up reflecting on life and realized that it was my passion. So, I began applying for marketing-related positions with the little experience I had, but I had no luck. I realized I had to upgrade my skills to understand digital marketing and become familiar with the tools and software that are often used.
I began looking through all types of institutions that offer digital marketing, but what stood out about BrainStation was the applied learning style. I loved the idea of going through 12 weeks of hands-on, technical training versus the reading and memorizing learning styles from college and universities.
What motivated you to start digital skills training?
Since the COVID-19 pandemic started, I have noticed a substantial rise in the online presence for businesses. Then I realized that the digital marketing field would only grow from there. That was what motivated me to learn a new digital skill.
BrainStation gave me the confidence and courage I need to prepare for the digital world.
What was the highlight of your learning experience?
To meet a group of like-minded individuals, not only from my program but from other programs, who were passionate about what they are learning. This was one of the many reasons why I was motivated to push through to the end of the bootcamp.
Also, BrainStation gave me the knowledge I needed to understand what type of digital marketing I wanted to pursue. Many would assume that digital marketing is just social media marketing, but it is way more than that! This was something that I appreciated as I was going through the 12 weeks. BrainStation put me in the position where I knew what I wanted.
What kind of support did you receive as a student at BrainStation?
From a learning perspective, my Educators were helpful during my 12 weeks. They would answer questions in a way that made sense not only for me, but for everyone in my cohort.
Career-wise, I received helpful advice and tips from the Career Success team. The team helped me with resume writing, cover letter writing, networking, and answering interview questions. They really do care and want us to be successful in our careers.
Overall, BrainStation gave me the confidence and courage I needed to prepare for the digital world.
Can you describe the impact your Educator had on your learning experience?
My Educator was probably one of the most supportive people I’ve ever had throughout my life as a student.
She made sure I knew what I was doing. She also made sure I knew why I made each decision for every project. Her feedback helped me improve my work and made me think like a Digital Marketer.
I’ve never learned so much in such a short amount of time. The support from the BrainStation community was one of the most positive factors. They truly want you to do your best during your time with them.
How has your BrainStation experience impacted your career?
It has impacted my career in an incredibly positive way! Halfway toward the end of my cohort, I developed the confidence to network and reach out to like-minded individuals. BrainStation gave me the confidence to do that — it was all thanks to their support.
What advice would you give to professionals considering a BrainStation course or program?
In the beginning, I was hesitant to consider BrainStation because I did not know if it was worth the risk to leave a comfortable job. However, I realized that the only way to succeed in life is to take risks and see where it takes you. So I took that risk.
Was it worth it? Of course! I’ve said it once and I will say it again: I’ve never learned so much in such a short amount of time.
The support from the BrainStation community was one of the most positive factors. They truly want you to do your best.
